Is Mueller our Ambrosian Prelate? “We too, and especially we bishops and priests, are addressed when Paul, the Apostle of Jesus Christ, gives this admonition to his companion and successor, Timothy: “I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, Who shall judge the living and the dead, by His coming, and His kingdom: Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine. For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables. But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry. Be sober.” (2 Tim 4:1-5).” https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/cardinal-mueller-issues-manifesto-a-quasi-correction-of-pope-francis-pontif
Is Athanasius the Ambrosian Prelate for whom we await? “The most urgent task of the Church in our time is to care about the change of the spiritual climate and about the spiritual migration, namely that the climate of non-belief in Jesus Christ, the climate of the rejection of the kingship of Christ, be changed into the climate of explicit faith in Jesus Christ, of the acceptance of His kingship, and that men may migrate from the misery of the spiritual slavery of unbelief into the happiness of being sons of God and from a life of sin into the state of sanctifying grace. These are the migrants about whom we must care urgently.” https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/bishop-athanasius-schneider-issues-statement-on-controversial-document
A sign of hope.
A website worth book marking. https://cardinalburke.com/
“Cardinal Burke says that due to a great volume of response from all over the world, the website manager had to install more security, and to do that he had to remove the website for a while earlier on Saturday. It’s now online again.” http://www.ncregister.com/blog/edward-pentin/cardinal-burke-launches-personal-website
Strickland, is he the Prelate?
“Bishops Joseph Strickland, Thomas Tobin, and Marian Eleganti all expressed their gratitude to Cardinal Müller, the former head of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, for reaffirming the essential tenets of our Catholic Faith.”https://www.lifesitenews.com/blogs/bishops-applaud-cardinal-mueller-for-prophetic-manifesto-of-faith
Why yes, I am waiting for the bishop to write an op ed piece denouncing any of these things. Ya know, the way he fired one off on the Covington MAGA hat boys. Maybe he is busy with his libel suit.
“Look, let’s try to keep things in perspective here: all we’ve done is wear blackface, advocate for infanticide, and allegedly assault some women,” said Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax. “It’s not like we were seen wearing a MAGA hat or something.”
Governor Ralph Northam agreed, stating that he’d be the first to step aside if a real scandal broke, like if they were seen wearing a Make America Great Again hat or supporting literally anything President Trump has done.
“Who among us hasn’t dressed up in racist costumes and posed with people in KKK garb?” he said at the press conference. “All I’m saying is we need to let cooler heads prevail here. Remember when we were all angry about those Catholic kids wearing the MAGA hats? I call on all Americans to get riled up about something like that again and forget about us for a while.”
“As part of the application process to be accepted as a seminarian and throughout his entire formation process, a man is, and rightly so, asked to reveal an extensive amount of very personal information, including such things as his history of chastity or sexual activity, criminal activity (even if he was never caught or convicted), and his worst fears about where he might fail in living out his vows or promises (prayer, poverty, chastity, and obedience). His file grows thicker the longer he remains in the seminary and it continues to grow after ordination, and includes self-revealed and other-revealed (from formation directors, vocation directors, letters from parishioners, etc.) information regarding his struggles, mental issues, physical problems, and moral failings before, during and after formation, any perceived “hostility toward women” or “rigidity” or “uber Catholicism” or “hard preaching” and many more such things.
That file never goes away, even when a man leaves “the system”, whether before or after ordination (this will be helpful to remember for next week’s column). This file is always meant to help him so that by working with his spiritual director he can improve in every aspect of his life, so that he can overcome fears and failings, so that he has a benchmark by which to gauge his improvements in holiness and competence.
It is also meant to help his bishop and any of his future bishops understand the priest, to figure out where to place him on assignment or which assignment to keep him away from for his own good. But while a good seminary rector or bishop uses this intimate information wisely and well for the salvation of the soul of the man and those under his care, an AH/HA bishop uses it for evil purposes. How so? Let me give you a couple of completely made-up examples.”
How very true this statement is! Anyone, whether they wear red or not, who says this is like other organizations (i.e. Southern Baptists) or happened decades ago (and this not relevant) should be shunned. No other ‘organization ‘ has the generational grooming, international connections, systematic reach of the Catholic Church. None.
‘The Catholic Church is still only groping its way toward telling the truth about sexual abuse by priests’
“I wish I hadn’t laughed off my experience of being groped by Francis Cardinal Spellman. It seems clear now that sexual abuse by priests and bishops and even cardinals — the so-called “princes of the church — was already systemic, and that the church was engaged in, and continued to engage in what amounted to a criminal enterprise by sanctioning sexual crimes and misdemeanors and not reporting offenders to law enforcement authorities. By staying silent about being groped by Cardinal Spellman, I feel like I contributed in some small measure to what came afterwards: five decades of sexual crimes by priests in the Catholic Church against innocent victims.” https://www.salon.com/2019/02/09/i-was-groped-by-a-man-called-mary-the-world-changes-but-not-the-catholic-church/
The abuse is not only about cases from the distant past. Why is Malone still a bishop? How is he compromised? Blackmail?
“Kyle wasn’t the only person who would come forward to report sexual advances by Yetter to the Diocese of Buffalo. Two other young men in 2017 and 2018 told the diocese they had *similar encounters* with the priest, according to the complaints filed with the diocese.
But hundreds of internal records obtained by WKBW television station reporters show that Buffalo Bishop Richard J. Malone and those who work for him allowed Yetter to remain pastor of a large parish with little consequences for his actions. They also took steps to withhold this information from the public, a reporter found.”
Where will Farrell reside? Will it be out of reach of prosecutors? Is the Vatican running out of space hiding the pervs?
“As rumors of the imminent laicization of disgraced former Cardinal and accused pederast predator Theodore McCarrick continue to spread, Pope Francis has announced the appointment of McCarrick protégé Cardinal Kevin Farrell as papal Camerlengo—a position of administrative authority over the Holy See, once a pope has died (or, if following the example of Pope Benedict XVI, resigns).”
Well as has been noted, there has been an 80% drop in Church attendance over past several decades. Who is left & why?
“First, Pope Francis claims that God willed the plurality of religions, and now Bp. Conlon is saying that it’s unclear whether or not Jesus even intended to establish a Church at all. Can there be any wonder that so many Catholics no longer take the Faith seriously?” Hichborn asked.
“Bishop Conlon claims that Jesus did not directly address whether He intended to establish a Church,” he said. “This is patently false.”
Here’s a thought. Excommunication is the penalty. What does it say about the lay state that it is seen as a penalty? “Laicization also means that McCarrick will no longer hold any ecclesiastical title or office, and will no longer have any legitimate exercise of priestly powers or authority. He will no longer be allowed to preach, teach at a seminary, wear clerical garb or offer Mass or administer sacraments. Because the sacrament of Holy Orders is among those that leave an indelible character on the soul of the recipient, however, he will always retain the sacramental powers of the priesthood, though these may not be used licitly with the exception of an emergency.” https://onepeterfive.com/vatican-announces-laicization-of-former-cardinal-theodore-mccarrick/
“Go further southeast and you find the pro-gay emasculated Bishop John Stowe of Lexington, Kentucky, who, even after an independent report exonerated the Covington Boys, still considers them racist, bigoted Trump supporters — the same bishop who is publically all down with sodomy.
Man, you got to hope that the Covington Boys’ attorney sues the living mitre off that guy’s head, along with all the other bishops who just couldn’t wait to score a self-righteous moral victory for their socialist politics by piling on the boys.”
“And now we are informed that “a book, ‘In the Closet of the Vatican’, written by French sociologist and journalist Frederic Martel, reports that around 80 per cent of clerics working in the Roman Curia are gay – although not necessarily sexually active – and details how they adhere to an unspoken code of the ‘closet’.” Does Martel (who is himself gay) have an ulterior motive for this article? Many people are questioning his high numbers. However, given the Vatican’s dodging of the issue of homosexual bishops and clergy this past year, Martel’s claims are easy to believe. And there is that 80% pointing to homosexuality surfacing again” http://frregisscanlon.com/index.php/2019/02/15/is-the-february-meeting-in-rome-our-last-chance/
“I can affirm to the best of my belief, that the infiltration of the Catholic Church has been advancing nearly unimpeded for over half a century. We know that God is in control and this awful invasion has been permitted to further the purification of the Church. This did not come without warning. Various aspects of this particular situation have been revealed in apparitions of Our Lady since the mid 19th century. Our Lord also gave some details to the likes of St. Faustina Kowalska and St. Pio of Pietrelcina among many others. However, there is no reason to despair. We have to go through this as a Church just as the Israelites had to go through many trials before taking possession of the Promised Land. The forces of evil shall not prevail for ever.” https://www.lepantoinstitute.org/infiltration/
Twilight Zone indeed. I know exactly what to expect from the Synod. My question, how much $$$ taken from offerings was used for this trick pony show? Do we really know where our contributions go? “Now, as the Twightlight Zone music plays, we are about to enter the bizarro world of Pope Francis’s sex abuse synod.
Journalist Hilary White on her blog reported that Pope Francis’s head of the upcoming sex abuse synod Cardinal Blasé Cupich at a press conference said it “remain[s] at the level, of hypothesis” responding to the question: “On the “hypothesis” that the culture of cover-up comes from priests and bishops being themselves involved in illicit sexual activity”? In the bizarro world of Cupich apparently it is only a hypothesis that being involved in for example illicit murder or illicit sex or any illicit activity it might possibly in some hypothetical strange inverted world bring about a culture of cover-up.
In Francis’s bizarro world his chief Vatican sex abuse investigator Archbishop Charles Scicluna at the same press conference to the above question given to Cupich said “I haven’t investigated [sex abuse] cover-ups” according to White. In the Francis inverted world his chief sex abuse investigator doesn’t “investigate [sex abuse] cover-ups.” “Now, as the Twightlight Zone music plays, we are about to enter the bizarro world of Pope Francis’s sex abuse synod.
