Gift Outweighs the Cost: Resurrection, Ascension, Pentecost V

banner_for_videosAscension

=The entry of Jesus’ humanity into divine glory in God’s heavenly domain, 40 days after his Resurrection

#665 this glorified humanity hides [Jesus] from the eyes of men (cfr. Col 3:3)

Eastern Catholic mind Ascension & Pentecost are two sides of the same coin. Mush like the Cross & Easter in the Western Catholic mind.

Jesus is lifted up, opening access to the Father that Adam & Eve had closed

#660 “There is a difference in manifestation between the glory of the risen Christ and the Christ exalted to the Father’s right hand”

Jesus is seated at the right of the Father.

Seated denotes authority to teach, greater than Moses

Right hand had denotes power as king inaugurating the Messianic kingdom

Jesus as our model, precedes our entry into heaven as he preceded the way of baptism. He models what we need to do and will be able to do if we remain united to Him through the Holy Spirit. Hence the need for the Paraclete to be sent.

Holy Spirit, Christ intervenes in human nature something super natural, miracle, still bound by nature’s law

Holy Spirit can be sent to have equal access provided we are without sin in our desire

Other religions, man goes to divine

Christianity, God comes to man, longs to be with His people

Not a capriccios God, gives all efforts to give access to Him

Takes Christ’s life as a pattern, ‘assured’ of salvation

Pentecost

= The fiftieth day at the end of the seven weeks following Passover. At the first Pentecost, after the Resurrection & Ascension of Jesus, the Holy Spirit was manifested, given Our Lady & Apostles, communicated as a divine Person to the Church, fulfilling the paschal mystery of Christ according to His promise.

Taken up to heaven and glorified after he had thus fully accomplished his mission, Christ dwells on earth in his Church not limited to institutional Church. As a constant intercessor for us before the Father, He assures us of the permanent outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Person’s malcontentment, knows they do not hold themselves in being.

Ex/ steal something, not comfortable, know it isn’t yours by correct manner

Holy Spirit is sustaining sinner, not same as one in sanctifying grace, still being held in being

683 “No one can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ except by the Holy Spirit.” “God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!”‘ This knowledge of faith is possible only in the Holy Spirit: to be in touch with Christ, we must first have been touched by the Holy Spirit. He comes to meet us and kindles faith in us. By virtue of our Baptism, the first sacrament of the faith, the Holy Spirit in the Church communicates to us, intimately and personally, the life that originates in the Father and is offered to us in the Son.

Baptism gives us the grace of new birth in God the Father, through his Son, in the Holy Spirit. For those who bear God’s Spirit are led to the Word, that is, to the Son, and the Son presents them to the Father, and the Father confers incorruptibility on them. And it is impossible to see God’s Son without the Spirit, and no one can approach the Father without the Son, for the knowledge of the Father is the Son, and the knowledge of God’s Son is obtained through the Holy Spirit.

God works awesomely to disclose Himself to man. Astoundingly, God dwells in His creatures

3 Divine Persons, One God

The Ages of Revelation, OT Father, Gospel Son, NT Holy Spirit.

Humanity is taught in stages or divine condescension appropriate to its development.

OT God is One, Father Paganism, idol worship, and demons needed to be clearly exposed and dealt with. Judaism was the solution.

Gospel Jesus needed to present what a true Messiah would be, and a new mode of access to the Father accessible as a worldwide blessing

NT Church Holy Spirit opens the door of inheritance to Jews & Gentiles alike
